Public Policy & Advocacy
We want Alaska to play a leadership role in the global energy transition.
Launch Alaska is committed to a nonpartisan policy approach that helps accelerate deployment of game-changing climate technologies across energy, transportation, and industrial sectors in Alaska. We collaborate with startup companies who are members of our portfolio, our accelerator program, and our deployment projects, as well as our strong network of subject matter experts, communities, government agencies, utilities, businesses, elected officials, and thought leaders across Alaska, the U.S., and the North.
Why Policy
We know that the technologies and business models capable of solving some of Alaska’s most challenging climate problems are ready to go today. However, inadequate policy frameworks and outdated regulatory schemes can hinder deployment, innovation, and much-needed solutions.
In order to meet our mission of decarbonizing the state and supporting climate tech projects, Launch Alaska’s Policy & Advocacy program works through nonpartisan advocacy, engagement and action to reach policy solutions that accelerate the energy transition.
How We Work
Launch Alaska uses a variety of criteria as we select local, state, and federal public policy priorities, including: consideration of our strategic plan, the need for a broad climate tech sector impact in Alaska, strong partner support, our credibility on a given issue, input from our external public policy advisory committee, and internal capacity.
Working side-by-side with some of the brightest companies in the world, we leverage our role at the center of the state’s key infrastructure projects to move Alaska’s energy transition forward.
