Deputy Director - Transportation

Tim Leach

Tim Leach is Deputy Director of Transportation at Launch Alaska. Over the past 18 years, Tim has worked in the energy and transportation sectors for nonprofit, for-profit, state-owned corporations, and academia. Tim has supported utilities, tribes, municipalities, and the State of Alaska as a subject matter expert in energy and transportation decarbonization planning. Tim led the Alaska Electric Vehicle Working Group, managed EV demonstration events like the Arctic Road Rally, and spearheaded regulatory reform to enable vehicle electrification. He also leads the Alaska Clean Cities and Communities Coalition, which harnesses local and national networks to decarbonize ground, marine and air transport.

Tim graduated from Vermont Law School in 2019 where he achieved a Master of Energy Regulation and Law with Distinction. During his schooling he focused on innovative energy policy and utility programming, electric vehicles, and climate law. 

Outside his work on clean energy and transportation, Tim spent 15 years leading courses with the National Outdoor Leadership School, teaching college students, business executives, and Naval Academy Midshipmen leadership and mountaineering skills. He also built and lived in an off-grid cabin where his son was born. Now, Tim lives in the heart of the Matanuska Valley with his son and husky. He loves chasing light with his camera, volunteers as a board member of the Hatcher Pass Avalanche Center and plays in the mountains and on the rivers in all seasons.
